Things to do in Stockholm during a weekend ? // Que faire à Stockholm pendant un weekend ?

It's been 3 months since my weekend in Stockholm took place and I want to share my adventure with you but especially if you plan to go there after this period is over, it may help you to give you ideas for what do and see on your next trip ! It is the 1st city in Scandinavia that I visited and I loved my weekend so much.

Voilà 3 mois que mon weekend à Stockholm à eu lieu et j'ai envie de vous partager mon aventure mais surtout si vous prévoyez de vous y rendre après que cette période soit terminée, cela vous aidera peut-être à vous donner des idées pour quoi faire et voir lors de votre prochain trip ! C'est la 1ère ville de Scandinavie que je visitais et j'ai trop adoré mon weekend.

TRAVEL

From Bristol there was no direct flight so I took a NATIONAL EXPRESS bus which transfers in approximately 2 hours 45 min to Heathrow airport terminal 5. Then I traveled with the company BRITISH AIRWAYS in 2 hours 20 min direct flight to ARLANDA airport. Then to reach the city of Stockholm as quickly as possible I decided to take the ARLANDA EXPRESS which is a train that drops you off in 20 minutes in the city center. You have the choice to buy your tickets directly from the website or by arriving on site. The price may seem high but it is practical and above all very fast.

Also note that most of the payments are made only by credit card and I had not planned any cash during this trip.

Depuis Bristol, il n'y avait pas de vol direct alors j'ai pris un bus NATIONAL EXPRESS qui fait le transfert en 2h45 environ jusqu'à l'aéroport de Heathrow terminal 5. J'ai ensuite voyagé avec la compagnie BRITISH AIRWAYS en vol direct de 2h20 jusqu'à l'aéroport de ARLANDA. Puis pour rejoindre au plus vite la ville de Stockholm, j'ai décidé de prendre le ARLANDA EXPRESS qui est un train qui vous dépose en 20 min en plein centre-ville. Vous avez le choix d'acheter vos tickets directement depuis le site internet ou bien en arrivant sur place. Le prix peut paraitre élevé mais c'est pratique et surtout rapide.

Notez aussi que la plupart des paiements se font uniquement en carte bleue et je n'avais pas prévu de cash durant cette aventure.

HOTEL

I stayed at the AT 6 STOCKHOLM hotel which is located a few minutes walk from the central station but above all its position is just perfect because it is in the middle of all tourist attractions. It is a superb 5 star hotel with very modern decoration and above all very Scandinavian style as I like. The breakfast was delicious with a very varied buffet and especially the products were fresh and homemade. Whether you are a vegetarian or not, there is something for everyone ! The weekend the buffet was open until 1 p.m.

J'ai logé à l'hôtel AT 6 STOCKHOLM qui est situé à quelques minutes à pied de la gare centrale mais surtout sa position est juste parfaite car il est au milieu de toutes les attractions touristiques. C'est un superbe hôtel 5 étoiles à la décoration très moderne et surtout très scandinave comme j'aime. Le petit-déj était délicieux avec un buffet très varié et surtout les produits étaient frais et fait maison. Que vous soyez végétarien ou non, chacun y trouve son compte ! Le weekend le buffet était ouvert jusqu'à 13h.

VISIT

Stockholm is an ideal city for a weekend trip and a good part can be done on foot or if it is really too cold there is always easy the metro and the tram. Having been lucky with the weather even if the temperatures were cool, it was nice to walk around and observe everything around me.

At the end of the day and especially because the night was falling quickly, I came back by metro and I bought the SL CARD VISITOR TICKET https://sl.se/en/eng-info/fares/visitor-tickets/ This card allowed me to take unlimited transport for 72 hours including the ferry and it was so convenient !

- GAMLA STAN :

It is the old town and also one of the largest and best preserved medieval town centers in Europe. You have to see this neighborhood which is really cute but which is also very touristy so what I did is that I stayed a few minutes in the street where there are all the tourist shops and afterwards I got lost in alleys. I loved this moment because everything was calm and so peaceful. I loved walking alone without necessarily following the route but just following my desire.

Stockholm est une ville idéale pour partir le temps d'un weekend et une bonne partie peut se faire à pieds ou bien s'il fait vraiment trop froid il y a toujours le métro et le tram. Ayant été chanceuse avec le temps même si les températures étaient fraiches, c'était bien agréable de marcher et d'observer tout ce qu'il y avait autour de moi.

En fin de journée et surtout aussi parce que la nuit tombait vite, je rentrais en métro et j'avais acheté la SL CARD VISITOR TICKET https://sl.se/en/eng-info/fares/visitor-tickets/ Cette carte m'a permit de prendre en illimité pendant 72 heures les transports dont le ferry et c'était bien pratique !

- GAMLA STAN :

C'est la vieille ville et aussi l'un des centres-villes médiévaux le plus grand et le mieux préservé d'Europe. Il faut voir ce quartier qui est vraiment mignon mais qui est aussi très touristique donc ce que j'ai fait, c'est que je suis restée quelques minutes dans la rue où il y a toutes les boutiques touristiques et après, je me suis perdue dans des ruelles. J'ai adoré ce moment car tout était calme et si paisible. J'ai adoré marcher seule sans forcément suivre d'itinéraire mais juste suivre mon envie.

- ABBA MUSEUM

I still had prepared my days and having visited Gamla Stan just before the Abba museum was just fine. To get there I took the river shuttle 82 which dropped me off in 15 minutes on the bank of Djurgarden. It was a very pleasant ride !

J'avais quand même préparé mes journées et d'avoir visité Gamla Stan juste avant le musée Abba était juste bien. Pour m'y rendre, j'avais pris la navette fluviale 82 qui m'a deposé en 15 min sur la rive de Djurgarden. C'était une balade très agréable !

Since the time that I wanted to go there and well it was the perfect opportunity ! I love Abba not to the point of being a fan but when I visit a country, I like to see what is part of the culture. I had booked my ticket directly from the website when I arrived there, I was happy to see that there were very few people. So it was even better to visit this very well made and interactive museum.
I could sing in a karaoke booth, dance on stage with the group which was in the form of a hologram, I could also see a large part of the costumes and understand better the history of this mythical group.

It may be a little kitsch for some and I had a lot of fun.

Depuis le temps que je voulais y aller et bien c'était l'occasion parfaite ! J'adore Abba pas au point d'être une fan mais quand je visite un pays, j'aime voir ce qui fait partie de la culture. J'avais réservé mon billet directement depuis le site Internet en arrivant sur place, j'étais heureuse de voir qu'il y avait très peu de monde. Donc c'était encore mieux pour visiter ce musée très bien fait et interactif.

J'ai pu chanter dans une cabine karaoké, danser sur scène avec le groupe qui était sous forme d'hologramme, j'ai aussi pu voir une grande partie des costumes et comprendre l'histoire de ce groupe mythique.

C'est sera peut-être un peu kitch pour certains et je me suis bien amusée.

In my eyes the best center dedicated to photography ! In addition to being an international location for photo professionals, it is also a recognized location in Sweden. I loved the hours spent at the center and I was happy to be able to be there after all the positive reviews I had read.

I especially wanted to discover the exhibitions of the month such as those of Erik Johansson and Alex Prager but also drink a good tea and eat a kanellbulle with this magnificent view of the bay of Stockholm. I keep a great memory and above all it is a place that I recommend to ask and get rich with great photographers.

A mes yeux le meilleur centre dédié à la photographie ! En plus d'être un lieu international pour les professionnels de la photo, c'est aussi un lieu reconnu en Suède. J'ai adoré les heures passées au sein de centre et j'étais heureuse de pouvoir y être après toutes les revues positives que j'avais pu lire.

Je voulais surtout découvrir les expos du mois telles que celles de Erik Johansson et Alex Prager mais aussi boire un bon thé et manger un kanellbulle avec cette vue magnifique sur la baie de Stockholm. J'en garde un super souvenir et surtout c'est un lieu que je recommande pour se poser et s'enrichir auprès de grands photographes.

- VASA MUSEUM

It is a maritime museum which is located on the island of Djurgården and you can discover the only almost entirely intact 17th century ship that has ever been recovered. This 64-gun Vasa warship sank on its maiden trip in 1628.

Another museum that is absolutely to do especially if you love history like me. I have never seen a ship so well preserved ! I advise you when you arrive to see a mini movie which is available in several languages in order to better understand its history. As a result, I enjoyed my visit even more. You have to take your time and above all I liked to learn more about the crew thanks to the objects they found just after the accident. It is a museum that is suitable for all ages and must do.

C'est un musée maritime qui est situé sur l'île de Djurgården et on peut découvrir le seul navire du XVIIe siècle presque entièrement intact qui ait jamais été récupéré. Ce navire de guerre Vasa de 64 canons avait coulé lors de son voyage inaugural en 1628.

Encore un musée qui est absolument à faire surtout si vous aimez l'histoire comme moi. Je n'ai jamais vu un navire aussi bien conservé ! Je vous conseille en arrivant de voir un mini film qui est disponible dans plusieurs langues afin de comprendre mieux son histoire. Du coup, j'ai encore plus aimé ma visite. Il faut prendre son temps et surtout j'ai aimé en apprendre plus sur l'équipage grâce aux objets qu'ils ont retrouvés juste après l'accident. C'est un musée qui convient à tous les âges et à faire absolument.

- STREET ART IN THE TUBE STATION
Stockholm has 11 metro stations where you can see an underground art gallery. I found the idea excellent and nothing better to take a little time and discover a few stations just before my return to Bristol.

Stockholm possède 11 stations de métro où l'on peut voir une galerie d'art souterraine. Je trouvais l'idée excellente et rien de mieux pour prendre un peu de temps et découvrir quelques stations juste avant mon retour pour Bristol.

- JUST ENJOY TO WALK ACROSS THE CITY FOR FEW HOURS
For this city trip, I also had to do things differently without necessarily planning everything and finally it was much better because I loved walking and finding myself in places by surprise!

Pour ce city trip, j'avais aussi de faire les choses différemment sans forcement tout prévoir et finalement c'était bien mieux car j'ai adoré me balader et me retrouver à des endroits par surprise !

Adoring fashion and decoration I had to give you some addresses that I tested. The Scandinavian style is a style that I love and that I find so elegant. Whenever I passed a decoration shop I wanted to buy everything but Stockholm is a very expensive city so we will say that I brought back little things :-) All the shops below, you can find several shops throughout the city.

Adorant la mode et la déco, il fallait bien que je vous donne quelques adresses que j'ai pu tester. Le style scandinave est un style que j'adore et que je trouve élégant. A chaque fois que je passais devant une boutique de déco j'avais envie de tout acheter mais Stockholm est une ville très chère alors on va dire que j'ai ramené peu de choses :-) Toutes les boutiques ci-dessous, vous pourrez trouver plusieurs boutiques à travers toute la ville.

This is the subject that I could not test 100% because during the 4 days I was at the hotel, I took a big brunch and suddenly in the afternoon, I just needed a snack so I'll share these few places where I had food.

C'est le sujet que je n'ai pas pu tester à 100% car durant les 4 jours où j'étais à l'hôtel, je prenais un gros petit dès et du coup l'après-midi, j'étais plutôt en mode grignotage donc je vais vous partager ces quelques lieux où j'ai pu manger.

A very nice little cafe where I could ask myself after visiting the Vasa museum. Even though there were a lot of people, the service was quick and friendly. It was still an opportunity to eat a good Kanellebulle. Inside, there is also a small tourist office area where you can buy some souvenirs !

Un p'tit café bien sympa où j'ai pu me poser après avoir visité le Vasa museum. Même s'il y avait beaucoup de monde, le service a été rapide et chaleureux. C'était encore l'occasion pour manger un bon Kanellebulle. A l'intérieur, il y aussi une petit coin office du tourisme où vous pourrez acheter quelques souvenirs !

THE FISHERY

This fresh fish restaurant was located a few minutes from my hotel and what a nice surprise I had !!! Everything was fresh and I liked that the menu offered few dishes because it was also depending on the arrival of the day. My shrimps and salad were delicious. I also loved the combination of Asian flavors with my dishes.

Ce resto de poisson frais était situé à quelques minutes de mon hôtel et quelle bonne surprise j'ai eu !!! Tout était frais et j'ai aimé que la carte propose peu de plats car c'était aussi selon l'arrivage du jour. Mes crevettes et ma salade étaient délicieuses. J'ai aussi adoré l'association des saveurs asiatiques avec mes plats.
