Combien de fois ai-je entendu "Alors Nat ta vie à Londres c'est cool ?" et combien de fois ai-je répondu " Heu ma vie à Londres...Non j'habites à Bristol, c'est une très chouette ville !!". En fait, je m'aperçois que Bristol est une ville méconnue des français (surtout pour ceux que je connais) et il est temps de rétablir la vérité...Il n'y a pas que Londres les gars ;-) Bristol est à seulement 1h30 de Londres en train ou en voiture, 1h seulement de vol depuis Paris Charles-de-Gaulle avec Easyjet et s'est aussi très bien desservi en bus depuis n'importe quelle ville d'Angleterre.
Ma ville a été élue en 2015, La Capitale Verte de l'Europe et récemment classée parmi les 10 villes d'Angleterre oú il fait bon vivre. Bristol est une ville axée sur la culture, l'art et la musique. On a même les bureaux de la BBC et ITV News. Plusieurs salles de concert, un port incroyable, des musées et des restaurants et des bars pour tous les goûts. Les gens sont chaleureux et très serviables, Bath, les Cornouailles et Cardiff sont très proches pour prévoir une escapade. Et encore 1001 choses à faire !
Aujourd'hui et en collaboration avec VISIT BRISTOL je vais vous partager ce que vous pouvez faire si vous êtes de passage ici le temps des festivités de Noël. Vendredi dernier, j'ai passé une belle journée entourée de Wendy (De Visit Bristol) et d'autres copines blogueuses. J'étais la seule française à découvrir et redécouvrir ma jolie ville sous un autre angle. Pour infos, VISIT BRISTOL c'est l'office de tourisme officiel de Bristol et à vrai dire, c'est le premier site que j'ai découvert lorsque j'ai su que j'allais venir y vivre. Ce site web est une mine d'or pour, par exemples préparer une escapade ou bien savoir quelle activité est à faire dans la journée ou pour le we ou simplement chercher un hotel ainsi qu'un restaurant. Je vous invite fortement à regarder de plus près ce site car il facilitera vos recherches. Il est en plus très agréable visuellement et constamment mis à jour. Le 1er rendez m'a été donné sur le port au resto PIEMINISTER qui est un resto dont la spécialité est la tourte salée et aussi sucrée. J'ai pu apprendre également qu'il a reçu plusieurs prix dont celui du meilleur goût en 2016 et surtout qu'il est 100% Bristolien. Les tourtes sont cuisinées avec des produits et des ingrédients de valeurs sûres provenant d'artisans locaux.
La carte est variée puisqu'il y a des tourtes pour tous les goûts : Les tourtes de Noël, les classiques et les sans gluten. Ce plat est un incontournable chez les anglais surtout en cette période car il est très facile à manger sur le pouce. Mais surtout un plat assez copieux pour tenir jusqu'au soir et qui réchauffe le coeur les jours de grand froid !

The first appointment was given at PIEMINISTER a restaurant which is his specialty is pies. I also learned that he received several awards including the best taste in 2016 and especially that he is 100% Bristolian. The pies are cooked with products and ingredients of safe value from local artisans.
The menu is varied as there are pies for all tastes: Christmas pies, classics and gluten free. This dish is a must in English culture especially in this period because it is very easy to eat on the run.
En cette période festive et bien le plus simple c'est de prendre le menu CHRISTMAS FEAST à £15 qui comprend une pie de mon choix (prononcez païe comme aïl) avec du choux rouge épicé, une sauce brune et de la purée. Et en plus, j'ai pu choisir un supplément avec un stick végétarien. Lorsque le plat est arrivé sous mes yeux, j'ai fait "Oh My God" tellement ça sentait bon et surtout c'était énorme. Je n'avais jamais mangé de tourte comme celle-ci et je n'allais pas être déçue. Mon choix s'était porté sur la FUNGI CHICKEN (poulet et champignons) et j'ai adoré. Le mélange entre ses deux ingrédients était parfait. Pour la boisson, je n'étais pas très originale mais une eau pétillante c'est l'ideal pour digérer un repas comme celui-ci.
C'est un endroit que je vous recommande car pour le coup, j'ai goûté une spécialité anglaise, le personnel très sympa et accueillant et surtout c'est important de bien se nourrir en cette période. La carte est variée et comme je vous l'ai dit les ingredients sont locaux donc rien de mieux pour soutenir ce resto à 100%. Le site web vous donnera plus d'infos si nécessaire ;-)

In this festive period it's nice to take and try the CHRISTMAS FEAST menu at £ 15 which includes a pie of my choice with spicy red spicy cabbage, gravy and mashed potatoes. And in addition I was able to choose a supplement with a vegetarian stick. When the dish arrived under my eyes I did "Oh My God" because the smell was so good and especially it was huge plate. I had never eaten a pie like this and I was not going to be disappointed. My choice was FUNGI CHICKEN and I loved it. The mix between his two ingredients was perfect. For the drink, I was not very original but sparkling water is the ideal to digest a meal like this.
This is a place that I recommend because for once I tasted an English specialty, the staff very friendly and welcoming and above all it is important to eat well in this period. Voyager en Allemagne sans bouger de Bristol et bien c'est possible en allant voir ce fameux marché de noël qui se trouve à Broadmead. Il est ouvert tous les jours de 10h à 20h et les stands pour manger un morceau sont ouverts jusqu'à 22h. C'est un chouette village et marché de noël à l'ambiance allemande et la magie opère dès que l'on y pénètre !! La musique, les odeurs de vins chaud et de churros donnent envie d'y rester des heures et des heures. Un grand bar logé en plein milieu vous permettra de prendre du bon temps en buvant une bonne bière ou un vin chaud. D'ailleurs, je l'ai testé et il est très bon. Toutes ces décorations sont chaleureuses et le centre ville devient festif. Entre deux sessions shopping, on peut aussi trouver de jolis objets artisanaux pour compléter la liste de Noël.
C'est vraiment une atmosphère magique avec ses chalets en bois et typiques. A la tombée de la nuit, c'est encore mieux surtout quand les illuminations se réveillent.

After this meal I am going to the BRISTOL SHOPPING QUARTER CHRISTMAS MARKET (the Christmas market open from November 10 to December 24) which is about 10 minutes walk from the restaurant via Corn Street. Moreover, this is where you can see the St Nicolas Market which is a covered market with several food stalls. It's still an amazing place and great for stopping and taking pictures. You can also find flowers, gifts, clothes, vinyls, etc. to buy.
Traveling in Germany without moving from Bristol is possible by going to see the famous Christmas market in Broadmead. It is open every day from 10am to 8pm and the food village is open until 10pm. This is a nice village and Christmas market with a German atmosphere and the magic operates as soon as you enter! The music, the smells of mulled wine and churros makes you want to stay for hours and hours. A large bar located in the middle will allow you to have a good time drinking a beer. All these decorations are warm and the city center becomes so festive. In between shopping sessions you can also find pretty crafts to complete your Christmas list.
It is truly a magical winter atmosphere with its wooden and typical chalets. At nightfall it's even better especially when the lights are waking up.

Avant de manger une glace chez SWOON, j'ai eu l'envie de passer par CHRISTMAS STEPS. C'est encore un endroit magique à Bristol car cette rue est particulièrement belle à mes yeux. Quand on monte les marches pour rejoindre COLSTON STREET, on se croirait dans une histoire de Charles Dickens. Les maisons légèrement étroites donnent une atmosphère si spéciale. On peut y retrouver des cafés, un coiffeur, une boutique qui vend des bougies...Il vous suffira de gravir les marches doucement et de vous arrêter tout en haut pour en admirer la vue. Bristol à ce je ne sais quoi ;-)
Before eating an ice cream at SWOON I had the desire to go through CHRISTMAS STEPS. It's still a magical place in Bristol because this street is particularly beautiful to my eyes. When you walk up the stairs to COLSTON STREET it's like a Charles Dickens story. The slightly narrow houses give such a special atmosphere. You can find cafes, a hairdresser, a shop that sells candles ... You just have to climb the steps gently and stop at the top to admire the view.

J'étais heureuse d'y retourner une fois de plus car l'année passée, j'avais pu tester toutes les spécialités en plus de celles de Noël 2016 et je vois que cette année, c'est toujours aussi bon et délicieux !!
SWOON c'est avant tout un lieux magique pour manger des glaces et d'autres merveilles sucrées. Durant cette pose, j'ai bien évidemment gouté les nouvelles saveurs et j'ai beaucoup aimé celle au Pumpkin et Amarreto qui est un surprenant mélange mais très bon. Et puis ce chocolat chaud maison avec une touche de chantilly était incroyable !! Et pourtant je ne suis pas une grande fan de chocolat mais celui-ci, je pourrai en prendre tous les jours. Si onctueux et délicat il est vraiment incontournable. Quant aux macarons, ils sont tous bons et mon favori est la pistache. C'est une adresse que je vous recommande sans hésitation. Le cadre est chaleureux, il y a une grande variété de douceurs sucrées sans compter les boissons chaudes. Allez jeter un oeil aux gâteaux glacés de Noël 2017. Sachez aussi que si vous êtes en visite à Bath, Swoon à maintenant une boutique.

After this walk it is high time to land at SWOON which is installed in front of College Green. I was happy to go back again because last year, I could test all the specialties in addition to those of Christmas 2016 and I see that this year, it's still as good and delicious!
SWOON is above all a magical place to eat ice cream and other sweet wonders. Everything is done by hand because the place has a micro-kitchen where you can observe in detail the preparation of an ice cream with trained and very competent staff. During this installation, I of course tasted the new flavors and I really liked the one at Pumpkin and Amarreto which is a surprising mix but very good. And then this homemade hot chocolate with a hint of whipped cream was amazing !! And yet I'm not a big fan of chocolate but this one, I can take it every day. So creamy and delicate it is really essential. As for the macaroons, they are all good and my favorite is the pistachio. This is an address that I recommend without hesitation. The setting is warm, there is a wide variety of sweet delicacies besides the hot drinks. Go take a look at the frozen Christmas cakes 2017. Also know that if you are visiting Bath, Swoon now has a shop.

Quand la nuit tombe rien de mieux que d'aller faire un tour sur la Grande roue !! Allez on y va ??!! Depuis le temps que je voulais monter sur cette roue qui est présente chaque année et bien s'est chose faite. Il suffit de se diriger vers le MILLENIUM SQUARE pour observer cette magnifique roue illuminée. Je vous avoue qu'elle est encore plus belle de nuit et toutes ces lumières me donnent presque l'envie d'être Noël en Novembre. Bon il ne faut pas avoir le vertige mais cela vaut vraiment le coup d'oeil. 35 mètres de hauteur et wahoooooo en arrivant en haut la vue est à coupé le souffle. Rien à craindre puisque la cabine où l'on peut monter à 4 personnes est très bien sécurisé.
Quelques tours pour admirer cette magnifique vue sur Bristol. Tout paraît si petit d'en haut mais qu'est ce que c'est beau !! N'hésitez pas à redescendre sur terre pour aller boire un verre sur le port où il y a une multitude de bars et restaurants.

When the night comes nothing is better than going for a ride on the wheel !! Lets' go ??!! Since the time I wanted to ride on this wheel that is present every year and made beautifully. Just head to the MILLENIUM SQUARE to watch this magnificent illuminated wheel. I admit that it is even more beautiful at night and all these lights give me almost want to be Christmas in November. Well do not be dizzy but it's really worth a look. 35 meters high and wahoooooo when arriving at the top the view is breathtaking. Nothing to fear since the cabin where you can go up to 4 people is very well secured.
A few tours to admire this magnificent view of Bristol. Everything seems so small from above but what is beautiful !! Do not hesitate to go down to earth for a drink on the harborside where there are a multitude of bars and restaurants.

Parce que regarder la vue panoramique de Bristol et bien les amis ça creuse l'estomac...PI SHOP Pizzeria. Ce resto se situe toujours sur le port et c'est une pizzeria crée par la famille Sanchez réputée pour être étoilée au guide Michelin. D'ailleurs, le resto CASAMIA à deux pas de la pizzeria leur appartient.
Alors PI SHOP c'est une réelle découverte et les pizzas sont délicieuses. Je pense avoir maintenant ma deuxième pizzeria préférée. L'endroit est trop beau, j'adore la déco car on entre et on se sent bien. L'accueil est agréable et surtout cette odeur de pizza qui s'incruste directement dans vos papilles, ça fait du bien. Ce sont des pizzas cuites au feu de bois et elles me rappellent surtout les vraies pizzas que j'avais pu déguster lors de mon voyage à Naples. Un menu pour le midi est proposé en plus d'une carte variée et surtout qui s'adapte à toutes les faims. On y retrouve aussi des cocktails.
Because to watch the panoramic view of Bristol and well friends it digs the stomach ... PI SHOP Pizzeria. This restaurant is still located on the waterfront and it's a pizzeria created by the Sanchez family renowned for being Michelin-starred. Moreover, the restaurant CASAMIA close to the pizzeria belongs to them.
So PI SHOP is a real discovery and the pizzas are delicious. I think I now have my second favorite pizza place. The restaurant is too beautiful I love the decor because we come in and we feel good. The welcome is nice and especially the smell of pizza that is directly ingrain your taste buds it feels good. They are pizzas cooked over a wood fire and they remind me especially the real pizzas that I could taste during my trip to Naples in Italy. A menu for lunch is offered in addition to a varied menu and especially that adapts to all hungers. There are also cocktails and classic alcohol.
Je vous laisse admirer les pizzas qui parlent d'elles-mêmes ;-) Mention spéciale pour la carbonara et la Meat Feast. Les proportions sont suffisantes et à manger seul ou bien à partager, c'est l'idéal ! Et les prix sont très raisonnables.

Manger des pizzas c'est comme manger une glace, il faut faire une marche digestive et pour terminer la journée en beauté rien de mieux que de faire du patin sur glace. Comme cela faisait des années que je n'avais pas mis les pieds sur des patins et bien je n'ai pas fait la maligne au début!
De retour au Millenium Square Winter Fair, c'est à cet endroit que se trouve la patinoire mais aussi un mini-village de noël, l'APRES BAR pour siroter une boisson et la grande roue (ci dessus). Quelle merveilleuse idée de patiner en fin de journée et un peu hésitante au début, finalement je me suis mise à aimer de plus en plus. J'avais l'impression de retomber en enfance et c'était cool. La patinoire est accessible pour tous et les patins sont fournis. Quelques tours de piste et hop, je m'envole.
Sachez que la patinoire est très populaire et qu'elle est ouverte en semaine de 13h à 21h puis le samedi de 10h à 20h et le dimanche de 10h à 18h. Vous pouvez patiner jusqu'au 18 janvier 2018.
La patinoire de 450m² peut accueillir jusqu'à 150 patineurs par session et coûtera 9,50 £ pour les adultes, 8,50 £ pour les concessions et 7,50 £ pour les enfants pour une séance de 45 minutes, avec des tarifs réduits pour les réservations de groupe et une réduction pour les réservations anticipées en ligne.

Eating pizzas is like eating ice cream you have to go for a digestive walk and to end the day in style nothing better than ice skating. As it had been years since I had not set foot on skates.
Back at the Millennium Square Winter Fair this is where the ice rink is located but also a Christmas market, the AFTER BAR to have a drink and the wheel (as you can read above). What a wonderful idea to skate at the end of the day and a little bit hesitant at first finally I began to love more and more. I felt like I was back in my childhood and it was cool. The rink is accessible to all and skates are provided. Some laps and hop, I fly.
Know that the ice rink is very popular and it is open weekdays from 13h to 21h and Saturday from 10h to 20h and Sunday from 10h to 18h. You can skate until January 18, 2018.
The 450m² rink can host up to 150 skaters per session and will cost £9.50 for adults, £8.50 for concessions and £7.50 for children for a 45-minute skate session, with reduced entry rates for group bookings and a discount for booking in advance online.
